Not Cancerous: SKs are not skin cancer, nor do they turn into it.

Appearance: They can be smooth or rough, waxy, and range in color from light tan to black. They often look as if they were “pasted” or “stuck” onto the skin.

Causes: The exact cause is unknown, but they are strongly linked to aging, genetics, and potentially sun exposure.
